Over 5 years Aya Mousawi was a founding team member of the independent non-profit organisation Edge of Arabia which was amongst the first platforms to support contemporary art from Saudi Arabia internationally. Launched in 2008 in London, Edge of Arabia ran a touring programme of exhibitions in Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, Venice Biennale and launched the first major public art exhibition in Jeddah, We Need to Talk in 2012. Edge of Arabia was a pioneering organisation that supported and commissioned several of the Kingdom’s leading artists in their early careers including Ahmed Mater, Manal AlDowayan, Abdulnasser Gharem, Dana Awartani.
